The journey to The Beacon began long before the company was born, rooted in years of experience behind the bar. After years working in bars and restaurants in London, followed by stints in Copenhagen, the foundation for a passion in mixology had already been laid.
A few times, after a long shift we found ourselves unwinding with a beer and a shot of Fernet, as those were readily available almost everywhere. But over time, one question kept coming up: why couldn’t we enjoy a great cocktail anywhere, with the same quality we’d expect from the best bars? That curiosity would eventually evolve into a passion for creating cocktails that could be enjoyed anywhere, without compromising on flavor or quality.
In 2020, when the world came to a standstill, The Beacon found its moment to shine. During the lockdown, we spent countless hours testing and perfecting drinks, diving deep into how we could preserve flavors without losing any of the quality that makes cocktails great. It was a time of creativity, experimentation, and pushing boundaries. With a commitment to getting every detail right, we built our first dedicated home bar—a place where our passion for innovation could thrive.
The real breakthrough came when we mastered the preservation techniques that allowed us to not only maintain, but enhance, the quality of our drinks. This lead to quite a few dinner parties, board game nights and some outdoor events fueled by our home made drinks. During some of these parties friends started asking about how could they get their hands on these drinks and why do we deprive the world of them?
It all started with just a few bottles and some small experiments. As we grew more confident in our skills, the quality of our drinks improved, and our passion for mixology deepened. This growing enthusiasm eventually led to the first few new bottles to widen our understanding of what truly makes a good cocktail. However, it wasn’t until a 2017 trip to Puttgarden, Germany, that the real adventure began. After visiting the Rum and Whiksey Festival, we returned home with 108 bottles of spirits, a collection that would soon spark an idea. What started as a single shelf of bottles quickly grew into something bigger—a growing desire to master the art of crafting unforgettable cocktails.
With time and effort going through flat Gin Fizzes, unbalanced Abbey Cocktails and one too many Brass Monkeys, we found that there were some really good options for home cocktails. A cold Bramble, a refreshing Margarita and a good Espresso Martini were hard to beat.
After years of refining our craft, The Beacon officially came to life in 2024. The name itself holds meaning: just as a beacon guides ships safely to shore, we aim to guide our customers toward the perfect cocktail experience, each time.
